The National Profile Registry (NPR) enables individuals to own verified digital profiles while helping banks, employers, schools, NGOs and government programmes verify identity and qualifications — always with explicit user consent.
Our mission
To reduce fraud, fake qualifications and duplicate onboarding across Zimbabwe’s economy by providing a trusted, auditable data exchange — without creating a public database of citizens.
What makes NPR different
- Consent-first: No institution can browse personal data freely. Every access request requires user approval.
- Evidence-based notes: Institutional notes use controlled categories, require evidence, and can be disputed.
- Trust score, not blacklist: We measure verification confidence — we do not label people as criminals without lawful evidence.
- Restricted biometrics: Face matching is available only for lawful purposes with admin approval and full audit logs.
- Lawful authority workflows: Special access for court orders and warrants requires senior admin approval and time limits.
Legal framework
NPR is designed in compliance with Zimbabwe’s Data Protection Act (Act 5 of 2021), which establishes the Data Protection Authority and requires consent to be specific, informed and freely given.
